Piet Dierickx is well known in the Belgian music scene. Having been the drummer of among others Soulwax, Drums are for Parades and Future Old People Are Wizards, cemented his name in the Belgian music history books.
In 2015 he felt the need to change direction, having been a performing artist for over 25 years, Dierickx started on a different musical journey. Embracing his home studio, Dierickx set off on composing what he calls ‘musical storytelling’.
Now, a couple of years later, he is ready with the first release of this new endeavor, 8 pieces composed over a 2 year time period. Dierickx lets us have look into his inner self, a musical journey that triggers the visual. “A soundtrack to displace everyday life” as he puts it.
His career spans a lot of bands, and testament to him being a jack of all trades, his solo work takes on a surprising shape: gone are the rock and metal tunes, and in stead Piet Dierickx has explored the depths of electronic dark ambient, laced with field recordings and distorted acoustic instruments. Dierickx has conjured an enigmatic and dark world that intrigues and captivates. With Lawrence English taking care of the mastering, you know you can expect an intense trip.
The debut album will be released on Consouling Sounds on the 21st of December.
